Job Purpose
The VP, Operational Risk & Resolution Planning, plays a pivotal role in managing Group Finance operational risks and Business Continuity Management (BCM). The candidate supports the Team Lead, COO Office, in partnering with all Group Finance teams to identify, assess and test operational risks via the annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment process.
Reporting to the Unit Operational Risk Manager (UORM), the candidate acts as a bridge between Finance senior management, Group Operational Risk and Group BCM, and Finance working-level teams. Together with Group RMG COO office, this role will also manage the Group-wide Resolution Planning deliverables, tracking progress, following up with relevant teams and presenting updates to RSP steering committee. This role demands strong analytical rigor, excellent stakeholder management, and a passion for driving change across the organization.
Responsibilities
1. UORM:
Provide critical support in the management of Group Finance's operational risk controls and monitoring programmes, such as RCSAs, KRIs, risk events update, corrective actions, etc, by engaging and advising Finance teams
Provide visibility into department-wide operational risk issues for Finance senior management by preparing dashboards, querying operational risk management system (eGRC), and advising senior management and team leads on outstanding issues and resolution
Improve operational risk awareness by facilitating Risk and Control Governance Forums (RFC & LFCA), as required, shaping the agenda and discussions to draw out risk insights, root cause analysis, learnings and observations
2. UDMA and BCP:
Provide end-to-end management of operational risk management programmes for Group Finance, such as User-Defined or Managed Application (UDMA) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) programmes
Partner all Finance teams to identify requirements under either programme, advise teams on how to fulfil these requirements, and provide comprehensive and timely updates to management on UDMA and BCP
3. Resolution Planning:
Partner with RMG COO to steer the Group Resolution Planning Strategy by jointly chairing the Group RSP Steering Committee, managing the Group RSP workplan and timelines, and collaborating with all Units to ensure the workplan is carried out
Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the Group on Resolution Planning, advise stakeholders on fulfilment of requirements or application of frameworks, drive workstreams to completion
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business, or Finance
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in finance business partnering, or financial management in international banks or financial institutions
Strong understanding of banking and treasury products, operational risk and banking processes
Aptitude and experience in risk and control related roles in first, second or third lines of defence and familiar with operational risk management concepts and tools
Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft office applications
Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools is advantageous
Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and meticulous attention to details
Team player who can persuade/influence others to achieve operational risk management objectives
